RAW Generation – Showcasing Local Emerging Artists

Shirley Fracture Couture on the runway

Shirley Fracture Couture features handmade fashion with a punk yet playful style. All the garments are hand painted and I especially loved the metallic eyebrows and colourful makeup which enhanced the bright colours of the outfits.

Naked In The Night on the runway

Naked In The Night is a clothing brand, with an online store, that was created for stylish men out of a desire to ‘bring you the finest tees, boardies, shirts and hats at prices that won’t blow your budget’.

Katrina Leigh by Katrina Gaskin on the runway

Katrina Leigh by Katrina Gaskin creates beautiful delicate lingerie and burlesque costuming to enhance your natural assets.

Havo - Brisbane designer - on the runway

Havo creations are ‘inspired by unconventional art and film, as well as the depths of psychological emotions’. The styling of this collection featured studded eyebrow detail that complimented the minimalistic, structured style of the outfits.

Good Golly Its Molly on the runway

Good Golly It’s Molly showcased gorgeous high fashion garments in dark colours featuring a sparkle of gold. I loved this model’s bright red bird-like hair which accentuated the feather details of her dress, a common theme through the collection.

Brisbane Illustrator Stacey Maree

Stacey Maree is an illustrator who ‘likes to create these dreamy worlds of overgrown foliage, mystical creatures and objects displaced and out of the ordinary’. I loved the delicate, detailed nature of her illustrations and Stacey herself was delightful to talk to.

Ladies at RAW Brisbane

RAW Generation was an exciting night celebrating Brisbane’s amazingly talented artists, designers, film makers, photographers, fashion designers and musicians.

The night started with music, proceeded to short films (which unfortunately were difficult to hear due to the crowd being quite chatty), a burlesque performance and then the moment I had been waiting for: the fashion shows! I have featured one outfit from each designer above but see the gallery for more images. Wandering around the Arena there were also visual artists (such as Stacey Maree above), photographers and accessory designers to delight your senses.

The amount of talent we have in our city is amazing and I am excited to discover more at future events. If you missed out, the next event is in May, follow RAW Brisbane on Facebook to find out more details.
